I'm feeling a bit like the way Lara felt a while ago...a bit down. I'm still not a 100% sure why but I think it's a mix of 'missing Holland after such a wonderful time', 'settling back in', 'getting used to cold cold Melbourne', 'Marcel being away most weekends', 'work frustrations', and for me this leads to creative frustration.
I don't want to make this blog the place where I dump my daily frustrations, but I feel the need to explain the reasons for my short and mostly visual blog updates from the last few weeks.
In my head I have a 100 things that I want to complete but I only have two hands and limited time. Number one will be to finish my quilt, which still only consists of cut pieces.
On another note, I really need to get back into blogging...and with that I mean commenting. I feel I have lost touch with a lot of you after coming back from my holiday (not that 100's of blog posts are easy to get through). So from now on I'm going to try really hard.
I do have one exciting thing to tell you...Yesterday I started my first lesson (of the two) in Textile Design. It was very interesting as they took me back to basics, back to before computers existed and everything was hand drawn on graph paper...trying to figure out how to make a repeat pattern. It was fun, although I looove the computer. Ctrl + Z just works better for me than a rubber ;)
Guess that's it then...I feel better already...thanks for 'listening'.
a Mattt bag...the present I gave my mum for mothers day. My auntie requested one too with this fabric and it just arrived in Holland, she's super happy with it.

I know exactly how you feel - lots of work but only two hands. There are always ups and downs and there is always time when we think we would need 48 hours a day but eventually days come when we easily make everything that we have to do.
I hope that you are ok by now and that there are good times ahead of you.
I also know exactly how you feel, after I got back from my 5 week trip to Europe I felt completely lost, and it didn't help that my boyfriend and I broke up the week after returning. I couldn't get into anything, i had no motivation to do anything (or read those hundreds of blogs!) and all I wanted to do was jump on a plane and go back. Just give yourself time to settle back into everything and gently pick away at those blog posts, it will all come back to you soon! And you'll always have Holland to dream about :)
your textile design class sounds fabulous. something to enjoy whilst you are feeling all over the place. hope things click into place soon.
xx
Hey there Bianca, did you see Julia Rothman's post on Design Sponge about designing a repeat pattern by hand?

This is the link in case you missed it. It's one great post on this topic.
I think it's normal for us all to go through ups and downs with creative work. Hang in there girl.
The textile design class sounds interesting! I can certainly relate to what you've described, though - too many ideas can be quite depressing, and the cold weather really doesn't help. As winter starts I find I have to motivate myself to keep my work space warm and cozy, my meals interesting etc because otherwise complete misery sets in.
Oooh, that bag is gorgeous! I can totally understand the 'come down' feeling after a lovely trip away, then having to settle in and not having enough time in the day to accomplish everything you would like to. I'm sure you'll find your groove again soon. Cheers, Bec.
Oooh yes the textile design class sounds wonderful.
hang in there, it'll all swing around... grey days like this don't help much though, do they?
That's okay, we're all entitled to a bitch and moan - it'll probably do you good.
Great to hear you're doing a course, I look forward to seeing what comes of it!
Oh and I received the pale blue swirl yesterday, so lovely and posted very speedily. Thanks!!
I hope you're feeling better!
-and enjoy the design classes... sounds great!
I think it happens to many creative people... especially at night lying on the bed can't sleep because my mind is full of ideas. Struggle to decide whether should wake up and do it or do it tomorrow...
I tatally agree with Pina... we need 48 hours a day...
hope you're feeling better now, bianca. i too experience homesickness and often feel overwhelmed by everything i want to do in a limited time. you're not alone! hope your textile design class is fun :)
Sometimes you have to put both guts and glory on your blog, so it's good to do a post like this when you need to. Remember to take a little time out from 'everything' just to recharge your batteries too - I find this helps with getting the natural energy back and things seem a little brighter.
The textiles class sounds just brilliant.
