harry land ...

Hi there, I'm finally back on the planet after a week in Harry land. What a book...loved it. For everyone who hasn't quite finished it...I won't spoil the fun, you'll find out what happens. I was exhausted though, after I finished it on Thursday at 1am. The previous nights I had been reading it until I couldn't keep my eyes open anymore. It's like they cast a spell on you...'keep reading till you fall asleep'. Anyways, it was a great book and I think Marcel is happy to have his girlfriend back.

Yesterday we went to see Christina Aguilera in concert, which was an early birthday gift for Marcel. I was amazed by the amount of youngsters at a concert. Back when I was young I could only dream of going to a concert, let alone wear a mini skirt and make-up. Guess times have changed... We felt old though, which is weird cuz we're only in our mid-20's. Anyways, Christina has an incredible voice, I didn't know any human could produce such a sound. It was a great night out.

And today, we're going to the craft & quilt fair at the Melbourne exhibition centre...so excited...

And here's something I finished last week...another hottie

more sewing...

Another Monday...weekends are just too short, especially when you're working full-time.

The apple pie tastes really good by the way...and after having a piece of that delicious pie & a hot choc, I finished another bag and another hot water bottle cover.

Back to more sewing...

those cold winter days...

Today I started on another bag... I simply couldn't sit still, so I decided to use my 'mustard' coloured floral fabric and the cutest little elephant fabric for another experiment. I had this idea to make a bag with 'rough' edges. The bag needed to be big and it needed an inside pocket and the rough edges...here's a pic of my work in progress...

I'm not quite sure what the end result is going to be like, but I have the feeling that this might be my kind of bag...
time to cuddle up with the hot water bottle...night night

it keeps me busy...

well..here's another one..simply because it is sooo cold here that 1 is not enough because we ... well ... both need the water bottle. Apparently it hasn't been this cold in Australia for 20 years. People keep saying I should be used to it, coming from Europe. I can tell you this...I'm not! I feel cold too :( BUT with the water bottle covers we can cuddle up in bed, be warm and not worry about what's happening outside...at least not until the next morning. Gotta love scrap fabric...

hot water bottle cover ...

It was time to make a cover for our hot water bottle. The feeling of the hot rubber is not quite pleasant and we normally kick the bottle out of bed after 10 minutes because we burn ourselves...so I decided to make something more cuddly.
Since I first wanted to make a 'test' cover..this one doesn't look that flashy, but I will make some covers with nicer fabric soon.

wallpaper book ...

It's my second post today..and that will not happen that often. I just wanted to show you the book I bought, which is called Wallpaper by Alejandro Asensio. If it was up to me I would post every page of the book on my blog, but then I would still be here in a week. I posted some random themes that are covered in the book...it's a great inspiration.

I also finished a bag for a friend. I hope she'll like it, but I think it's totally 'her'.

snowboarding ...

No crafts for me the last weekend, but a fun packed freezing cold snowboarding weekend. On Friday morning we jumped in the car to go to Warragul, where we booked a cabin for the weekend. We changed into our snow gear and drove up to mt Baw Baw where we found that we had to put the snowchains on our car because it was snowing heavily. Once we got to the skiing resort we took our snowboards and headed for the slopes. Marcel & his brother had never been to the snow, let alone gone snowboarding so I was their teacher for the first day. Marcel was doing great and managed to control the board pretty quickly. Nic needed some more encouragement and a lesson. So we headed back to the cabin, and decided that they should both take lessons on Saturday. They had a 1 hour private lesson, and got to know the basics. It was another awesome, but snowy and cold, day.

I went up and down the mountain a couple of times and then we decided to go to our cabin. That was at 5pm...by 11pm we finally reached our destination. Someone had managed to drive their car over the edge and the road had to be cleared before they let people drive down the mountain. They checked if cars had snowchains and we were sent down in pairs of 2 cars with at least 20 meters distance. It was an adventure...but a good one. Yesterday we spent some more time snowboarding, and unfortunately it was raining so within an hour we were all soaked...which was very cold, but we had fun. Then it was time to go home to Melbourne...I don't think I have ever done so much driving up and down mountains, but it was all good. Until the alarm went off this morning and I had real trouble getting out of bed...I definitely need to get fit if I want to do this more often, every muscle in my body hurts. Thankfully I have some things to look forward to...finishing another bag on my new sewing machine, Harry Potter & the order of the phoenix movie, Harry Potter's 7th Book, Christina Aguilera concert, a possible 2nd snowboarding trip...

some days...

Some days are just totally frustrating...like my last 3 days where I went to work bright and early to find out that our computer system didn't work..well the two days after it was to find out that it hadn't been fixed yet...So my last 3 days were absolutely wasted. I spent my time drawing and reading magazines as I could do nothing else. The only good thing about it is that you can actually leave early and nobody would really blame you. So that's what I did.

Today I bought a new sewing machine, because I really needed an upgrade.

And I wanted to show you some new fabrics we bought. Yes...it's we as I dragged Marcel along to the patchwork shop and guess what... he loved it. He chose his own fabric which I will have to turn into a bag for him. He also got this idea of making a special pouch in which he can put his camera and then put it in his backpack, so it wouldn't get scratched. I know they sell camera pouches, but Marcel has one of those big ones that you don't just take in your pocket, so he's thinking of ways to protect his camera and lenses.

Well, here they are...some are for friends as they requested some bags.

I also got inspired by the grey and yellow floral pattern and decided to use these colours for my own design. (I still find it weird to call it 'my design' as I don't see myself as a designer...probably my insecurity)

I just found out that Marcel's fabric won't load...so I will post an update soon.
