there & back again...

I'm back from Sydney...and in need of a proper break...like Lara. I shouldn't complain really, Sydney was quite good (apart from the weather) I learned a lot at the conference, had tons of fun getting to know colleagues from other states, frocking up for the big conference dinner & dance and we did heaps of shopping over the weekend. We didn't do our Christmas shopping yet, mainly because it's probably just going to be the two of us and we both know what we want and what we're getting. We also had some great dinners, like the one on Saturday when Marcel's dad cooked us a fantastic Chinese feast. They invited some family friends and they brought Daniel along, who is German. The reason I'm mentioning this, is because Daniel cycled all the way from Paris to Beijing...now that's an achievement! He's in Sydney now and will cycle to the Gold Coast soon and then into the outback, so if you see a person cycling in the outback, it might be him.

Anyways, I'm back home again, but I haven't got the camera yet as Marcel will be back late tonight. I've been experimenting with some stationery designs and I really like this one because of its simplicity but I can't decide on a colour. I'd love to hear your opinion on both the design and colours (my design might be totally rubbish). On Friday I'll draw a name from the hat and you'll receive a little surprise for your comments. :)

I meant to share something a while ago, but I haven't had time for it yet. I'd like to show you the wonderful pouches Jason from Art Box Diary made with my chocolate swirl fabric. Go have a look at his etsy shop, he also has great pouches made from beautiful Japanese fabrics and cute kokeshi dolls.

I think you should play with scale, like have smaller circles and quite large circles in comparision. It'd look like pebbles!

I really like this! I like the idea of having it on the bottom corner of a piece of stationary. I really like the blue and I always love green! :)

I am a big fan of red :)

I love the design (you definitely shouldn't be so hard on yourself!)...it is simple and beautiful. I honestly love all 3 colourways...and they work beautifully together. Playing with scale could be an option...but I do like them as they are as well :) x.

i have recently had to resort to making my own paper, by finding great designs and using work's colour printer! perhaps you could save me the time! :)

I have a real thing for red at the moment so am a bit biased on this one. I just love the movement and simplicity of this design.

Hi Bianca.....

I wanted to tell you that I went to One Small Room on Sunday, and I saw some of your fabrics there in person..... gorgeous!

I think the designs are a good compliment to your current fabrics - and the swirl design repeats on your business card and invoices and things, which helps to pull all your things together nicely.....

With this design, I think it depends what you plan to do with it?
I like the idea of playing with the scale - I think the images shown (in all colours) would be great for stationery or note cards, and perhaps some wrapping paper sheets in the same scale as the fabrics? Nice!

Good luck, can't wait to see what you get done!

Oooh, these are great! I agree that all of the colors are fantastic, and all three go together perfectly! My favorite is the green!

It's true, they all look great but I love that shade of blue.

I'm a bit of a red fan, but for this particular design (for the size of the circles as they are here) I think the green works best and has really nice movement.

The blue is light and oceanic, very soothing.

And if you go for red, could you try two different sized shapes (samll and large) and perhaps less populated because the stronger color carries them so easily.

I am very fond of your designs!

hee hee, it's certainly not rubbish! in fact, it's strikingly similar to a design i goccoed onto fabric last year (you can see a little bit i used on my laptop case here http://www.flickr.com/photos/lesliekeating/766425196/in/set-72157594301337072/)

great minds think alike : )

I like the blue most of all, perhaps because it is winter here - freezing cold and chilly.
Those pouches also look very lovely. I think they would be great in red!

I like the one in the middle, that greenish gray, or whatever it is in reality. I have problems with English colors, as for example I simply can't say I like chocolate blue, which would be quite all right in Finnish. Our best Fazer milk chocolate is wrapped in dark blue paper. Besides that blue being a lovely color, the chocolate is so goood :)

I too would suggest mixing different scales, but I like the design as it is, too. Happy designing!!

I also love the simple and clean design, Bianca! Very beautiful. I think they'll be great for notecards, greeting cards, wrapping paper, or the cover of a notepad. Or at the bottom of the notepad pages!

I also like the blue best of all.

I love the design - it makes me think of bubbles! I too am a huge fan of red but I like all the colours.

i love the blue. it's light enough to write over it but dark enough to have it show up. it reminds me of water bubbles actually. wouldn't mind seeing a bit of teal in there or a light plum color.

can't wait to see more work from you!

hello Bianca. thanks for your comment on my blog, you're so sweet!

i like the blue design the best. the combination of that color and the circles reminds me of the seaside, bubbles, etc. a few people have said something simliar so i think it must be true!
