Bloem in Burnt Orange...

Yay so exciting...

I did a 'mock-up' of this a while ago but wasn' too sure if I'd ever print Bloem in this colour, but Lara convinced ;)

It all started with some sampling...

Then printing...

Bloem in Burnt Orange

Thanks for convincing me Lara, I'm so happy with this colourway.
Yet another one to add to the list of 'to be heatset' fabric.

Seeds on Sunday...

We had another productive day in the studio today... Whilst Lara was making an asome Japanese syle bag, Teegs and I printed 3 metre runs of Teegs' Briar, my Bloem, and Lara's Acacia in a very very light green on white cotton. Once it has been heat set, Teegs will turn it into beautiful fashion items.

We swapped printing partners and while I was doing our business administration, Lara and Teegs printed a full 10 metre run of the Briar in very light green on white cotton. This will be available in Teegs' etsy shop after heat setting.

Time for one more swap... Lara and I then printed my Seeds pattern in a lovely 'Green Tea' colour, while Teegs finished the toile of her wrap skirt pattern.

A very productive day indeed... can't wait till my (and Teegs' and Lara's) fabric is heat set... I want to cut into it ;)

Etsy prices adjusted...

Everyone is well aware of the fluctuations in currency, especially the Aussie dollar vs. the US dollar. Because of the massive drop, I have decided to monitor the currency fluctuations and adjust the prices in my etsy shop accordingly.

The prices in my etsy shop have dropped quite substantially now as I want to reflect the price of my goods in Aussie dollars. I don't want Aussie buyers to pay too much for my goodies online, so that's the reason for dropping the price so much.

Because the currency market is never stable, I will keep adjusting prices as currency markets go up and down. Seems to be fair I think.

If you're looking for Christmas presents, have a look in my shop... All of the fabric listed has now become 'limited edition fabric' as I won't reprint any of it. If you've always wanted some, now is the time to buy :)

Bloem in charcoal...

yay! my very first print run... the bloem pattern in a subtle charcoal.
I'm very happy with how it turned out, the colour is just like I had in mind. This run has to be heat set before I can sell it and make products.

The girls also printed Teegs' first pattern today, check it out on our blog. Teegs is in the process of setting up an etsy shop, so you will all be able to get your hands on her lovely pattern soon.

As you might have read on Lara's blog, Ink & Spindle has been accepted for the Melbourne Design Market! It's so exciting, as it's like the biggest design market in Melbourne... scary though, I really have to start making lots of pretty goodies...like now ;)

We have a winner...

The winner, chosen by the random number generator, is... number 6!
Comment number 6 is by Janellybelly. Congratulations!

Janelle made the following suggestion: "I love the moss & mud colours, but my personal favourite colour is burgundy."

Since I only have the natural fabric in stock, I have decided that my first colours will be a charcoal and opaque white, but I will definitely take up some suggestions once I get my hands on some cream coloured fabric. The cream will bring out the lovely bright colours that most of you have suggested.

I didn't want to leave the post without a picture, so here's a cushion I made out of the Sprout Design fabric that I received from Rebekah. We're preparing for a small and a big market, so I'm very busy making things at the moment... We'll keep you updated!

spring clean...

I'm having a spring clean... in my shop... snap up some fabric at bargain prices... Very limited edition as I won't print this pattern anymore...

If you're waiting for my new patterns, I will print them soon but have some big projects coming up so I'm not sure when they'll be available. It might be in December.

Give away...

It's time for a give away.

Here's what you have to do: Just leave me a comment before 12pm Melbourne time Tuesday the 21st of October with a colour suggestion for my new seeds pattern and bloem pattern. I'll pick a random name and will announce the winner on Wednesday the 22nd of October.

One extra bit of info here, I'm happy to post for free to peeps in Australia but if you're overseas and would like to join in you'll have to pay for the shipping. Sorry, we're feeling the crunch here too ;)

I'll send you a lovely scrap pack. Some offcuts and scraps of my fabric! Perfect little pieces for crafty projects. These are offcuts, not nice square fat quarters. Some are offcuts due to their imperfect printing and some are a section of fabric that have been living in the remnant bin at my place.

toy cars, bicycles and roads...

You might have seen a few designs popping up on blogs etc and I finally picked mine up from the post office this afternoon. I'm so excited about this.

Rebekah and Tim have done such a great job with the whole 'designers for Sprout Design' collection, I really love how my colours came up. Thanks so much for sending me these lovely samples...I love them! All I need now is a baby boy ;) but I guess I've still got a few years before that's going to happen.

The 'designers for Sprout Design' is available here.

screen printing ... my first print run

Wow, today we printed our first run...on fabric...by hand...our hands.
I'd never screen printed before (gocco-ing doesn't really count) so I was super excited squeegee-ing the ink through the screen.

Tegan & I printing

The result is amazing. We were a little bit worried about our table setup etc, but it seems like we did a fantastic job. I think we might be open for business very very soon :)

making stuff...

Today I made stuff...because I'm sad...sad because we don't have a car anymore :(
My boyfriend was involved in an accident on Wednesday, and luckily he is ok, but the car is not. The man who came to tow the car away said the car's value would not be worth fixing it, so they left it there and now it's at the wreckers.

The reason I'm sad is, that it is my first ever car. I bought it three years ago when I arrived in Australia and it has taken us everywhere. Countless road trips, to the beach, the supermarket, the studio...and now I have to do it all by train :(

Hopefully we'll have a new [read second hand] car soon, so I can at least do my groceries... as there's no supermarket at walking distance from us.

So, that's why I'm making stuff...and trying to take pretty pictures of it ;)
I think the dusty colour range would look lovely in a kids room.
